Acetic Glacial Acid

Application

In Food,

It is an important component of vinegar, and the fermentation of edible vinegar is inseparable from glacial acetic acid. It is also used in soft drinks, cold drinks, and many condiments.

In Medicine,

It can kill fungi and has good effect on the treatment of nail fungus and corns. For some other skin diseases, most of them use glacial acetic acid together with other anti-inflammatory drugs to achieve therapeutic effect.

It should be emphasized that glacial acetic acid is highly corrosive, so it cannot treat ringworm.

Safety

It is corrosive in higher concentrations . It is sufficient to burn unbroken skin when its concentrations over 50%. There is no sensation at first when the skin is exposed to concentrated acetic acid as the burn is chronic. If not treated in time, the exposed area will blister after 0.5 to 4 hours and produce severe and persistent pain. Even rinsing with water or sodium bicarbonate solution will not help. Concentrated acetic acid can also cause irreversible and permanent damage to the mucosal tissues of the eyes, mouth, nose and other parts.

Chronic Effects:

Conjunctival hyperemia, eyelid edema, chronic pharyngitis and bronchitis. It can cause skin dryness, degreasing and dermatitis for long-term repeated exposure.
