Japanese automaker Toyota is planning to sign an agreement with the Germany-based BMW to license its fuel-cell vehicle technology.

As part of the agreement, the company will provide the drivetrain and hydrogen storage technology, according to the Nikkei.

The technology will be used by BMW to develop the prototype vehicle by 2015, which is scheduled to launch by 2020.

The fuel cells used in the technology are expected to convert hydrogen into electricity that will be used to power cars and trucks.

Vehicles with fuel-cells are expected to run five times longer than battery electric cars with a single power-up which takes minutes to fill the tank with hydrogen.

In June 2012, both the companies signed an agreement to exchange information on the on light car bodies made from carbon fiber to TMC.
